1) Do I need a high-speed internet connection to upload or watch short films/trailers?
No. But it sure helps! The faster your connection speed the faster your upload/download time.
2) What rights do I sign over or share with IndieOrbit.com?None. Aside from the right to show your short film/trailer to anyone visiting the site so long as you keep it active, IndieOrbit.com takes no rights to your work what-so-ever.
3) Do I need to own all the rights to my short film/trailer to upload/show it in IndieOrbit.com?
ABSOLUTELY! You must own or have formal permission to use on a for-profit basis any copy-righted material in your short film/trailer. Please refer to our Terms of Use policy.
*IndieOrbit.com reserves the right to reject or remove any short films/ trailers at our sole discretion.
4) Can I upload a music video?Yes. Provided you meet our criterior for acceptable content, i.e., titles, credits, no porn, file size/length/bit rate, etc
5) Can I upload webcam clips?
No.
6) How long will it take for my film to upload
That depends on your connection speed. On a standard high-speed connection a 20 MB file should only take a few minutes to upload.
7) How long will it take for my film to be viewable on IndieOrbit.com?
24 hours.
8) Why do I have to wait 24 hours before I can watch my short film/trailer?
We use a program that batches the day's files and then converts all files to Flash from 12:00pm on each day. The process takes from 12 to 24 hours.
9) Can I take down my short/film trailer any time I wish?Yes. Simply use the "edit" funtion from your fimmaker page.
10) Does IndieOrbit.com have an on-line festival for short films?An on-line festival for short films is in the works! Stay tuned!
FEATURE- LENGTH FILM QUESTIONS
1) What are the system requirements to view the films?
YOU MUST HAVE A HIGH-SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION.
To view and save the films you must be using an Internet Explorer® Browser.
IndieOrbit pay-per view feature-length films can NOT be viewed on Macintosh® computers at this time.
Please be advised that Indie Orbit films will PLAY but not STORE on Vista® OS.
MAKE SOME ROOM! Our films will download automatically to your Temporary Internet Files Folder but you need to add some room. It's easy and only takes a few seconds:
*In the menu bar at the top of the Internet Explorer page:
1) In Internet Explorer, on the TOOLS menu, click INTERNET OPTIONS.
2) On the GENERAL tab, click SETTINGS. (IE v.7 users click Browser History
Settings).
3) To create more space move the slider to the right or click the up arrow.
4) Click OK
After the film has completely downloaded you can repeat steps 1 and 2 and in the SETTINGS window click VIEW FILES. Find your film. *it is usually at the very top or very bottom of the list. You can also sort by size to find it. Drag it from your temporary files to your desktop to watch off-line.
2) Why won’t the film play in my Windows Media Player?
If you meet the systems requirements (#1 above) and the film will not play in your windows media player, we suggest upgrading to Windows Media Player 11. Its’ free – easy- and only takes a couple of minutes. Click here for a free upgrade:

3) I have Windows Media Player 11 installed but when I go to watch a film I am being prompted to install Active-X. What should I do?
Active-X is a component in Windows Media Player 11 that allows security protected content to play. IndieOrbit films are all protected with security to make them copy-proof and only viewable for 48 hours from initial download. Follow the prompts to install Active-X and the films should play perfectly.
4) How do I find a film after it is downloaded?
IndieOrbit films save from your Windows Media player directly to your TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES FOLDER. If you made room for it as prompted when purchasing the film, it should be there. To find your film:
1) In Internet Explorer, on the TOOLS menu, click INTERNET OPTIONS.

Depending on your connection speed, a feature length film at about 450 mega-bites in size can take as little as 15 minutes to as much as 45 minutes to download completely.

COMPRESSION QUESTIONS and INSTRUCTIONS
1) What are the compression instructions for my film?
1) Your film must be a minimum of 60 minutes and a maximum of 120 in length
2) Be sure the file is a Windows Media 9 file
3) Be sure the file is no larger than 450MB 4) Be sure the bitrate is no greater than 700kbps
5) Be sure the dimensions are exactly 640x4806) Burn the film file onto a separate disk from your trailer
7) Send the film disk along with the trailer disk to:

1) Your trailer must be no longer than 90 seconds in length*(Regardless or your film's content, trailers must be acceptable to be viewed by a general audience)
2) Be sure the file is a Windows Media 9 file
3) Be sure the file is no larger than 10MB
4) Be sure the bitrate is no greater than 500kbps
5) Be sure the dimensions are exactly 320x240
6) Burn the trailer file onto a separate disk from your film

3) How will I know if my film was received by IndieOrbit.com?You will be notified at the email you provided when we receive your film.
4) How long will it take for my film to go up and my film page to be activated?Your film will go up and your film page will be activated within approximately 2 business days from the time we receive your film.
5) Will IndieOrbit.com compress my film/trailer for me?
IndieOrbit.com offers a compression service where we will compress your 60 to 120 minute film plus a 90 second trailer at a cost of $99. Please go to the COMPRESSION SERVICES tab on the main menu bar for more details.
6) Why are there specifications on the size of my trailer?
There are specifications on trailer size because they revolve every couple of minutes on the home page and we want to keep uniformity.
7) Why must my film/trailer be in a Windows Media File?
Your film must be in a Windows Media 9 file because Windows Media files are the only type of files that allow Digital Rights Management (DRM) security applications. Windows Media 9 is the most current version.
8) Why can’t I compress my film into a Flash File?
Because Flash Files do not allow for DRM applications.
9) Why do I need to send my film to IndieOrbit.com? Why can’t I upload it directly?You can’t directly upload your film directly because we need to apply a security application (DRM) prior to uploading onto our site.
10) My question is not answered here. What should I do?

GENERAL QUESTIONS ABOUT IndieOrbit.com
1) Is IndieOrbit.com a film distributor?
No. IndieOrbit.com provides you the platform to distribute your film over the web. YOU market and distribute your film through IndieOrbit.com.
2) If my film is successful can I sell it to IndieOrbit.com?
No. IndieOrbit.com is not a film distribution company.
3) How do I make money using IndieOrbit.com for self-distribution of my feature-length film?
You charge to view your feature-length film on a pay-per-view basis. Every time someone clicks to watch your film, a PayPal® page opens and they pay your admission fee. Once their payment is accepted, the film begins to run in a progressive download. You also have space on your film page to sell advertising plus a link to sell DVDs.
4) How much does it cost to distribute my feature-length film through IndieOrbit.com?
We charge a fee of $99 for a three-month run or $199 for a six-month run on IndieOrbit.com. You pay us our fee when you submit your film.
5) How do I collect my admission fees?
IndieOrbit.com will accept your admission fees and make a disbursement to your PayPal account on the 26th of each month. If the 26th falls on a holiday or the weekend, disbursements will be made on the following business day. In order to collect your admission fees, you will need to have a PayPal account (it’s free) prior to signing-up. PayPal is owned by eBay® and with over 100 million account members worldwide is considered the global leader in on-line payment solutions.
6) What is a progressive download?
A progressive download with regard to video is a file that is viewable as it downloads.
7) Do people have to wait for my film to download completely before they can start watching it?
No. A progressive download starts playing immediately as it downloads. You can rewind but not fast forward until the film is completely downloaded.
8) Does IndieOrbit.com make money off downloads of my feature-length film?
No. IndieOrbit.com does not take a profit percentage from your admission fees.
9) What is this 50-cent bandwidth charge?
Every time your feature-length film is downloaded, IndieOrbit.com is charged for the bandwidth delivery. Since IndieOrbit.com does not take a percentage of your admission fees, you are responsible for the bandwidth charge.
10) How do I pay the 50-cent bandwidth charge?
The 50-cent bandwidth charge is deducted from your admission fee at the point of sale.
11) What is the PayPal® transaction fee?
PayPal has a special lower-rate transaction fee which is applied to your admission fee at the point of sale. The fee is 5% + $0.05 per transaction.
12) Why do I need a PayPal® account?
IndieOrbit.com uses PayPal as our on-line payment system. PayPal is owned by eBay® and is the global leader in on-line payment solutions. All payments including viewers paying to watch your film to monthly disbursements of your admission fees are done through PayPal.
13) Is a PayPal account free?
Yes. PayPal is both free and easy. All you need is an email address to accept and send payments. Please go to www.PayPal.com.
14) Can I let people view my feature-length film for free?
No. IndieOrbit.com is charged 50 cents every time your film is downloaded. PayPal also charges a transaction fee of 5% + $0.05 per transaction. Therefore, the minimum admission fee allowed on our site is 65 cents (rounded up).
15) My question is not answered here. What should I do?

RIGHTS QUESTIONS
1) What rights do I sign over or share with IndieOrbit.com?
None. IndieOrbit.com takes no rights to your film what-so-ever.
2) Do I need to own all the rights to my film to distribute it through IndieOrbit.com?

4) If I sign-up and pay for a three or six-month run with IndieOrbit.com, am I obligated to keep my film up the entire time?
No. You can take down your film at any time.
5) If I take down my film, will IndieOrbit.com continue to show it?No. We take no rights to your film including exhibition rights.
6) Is my arrangement with IndieOrbit.com exclusve?
No. We hold no rights or stipulations on the exhibition or distribution of your film what-so-ever.
